Working Conditions: Work is done both indoors and out. Surroundings are usually dirty and dusty or wet, and workers are exposed to extremes of temperature. Work involves considerable standing, stooping and kneeling.
Possible injuries may result from falls from ladders or scaffolds, or lime burns of the hands or the eyes.
Recommended High School Courses: Math, general science, general shop.
Terms of Apprenticeship for Cement Masons: Minimum of 3 years and
3,000 hours. Must complete all in-house related
instruction.
Terms of Apprenticeship for Plasterers: Minimum of 4 years and 6,000 hours. Must complete
all in-house related
instruction.
General Qualifications:
-- Legal working age.
-- High School graduate or equivalent.
-- Good physical condition.
Admission Requirements of the J.A.C.:
-- Copy of high school grade transcript.
-- Personal interview.
-- Must have own transportation.
